Virginia General Assembly recognizes VOF’s 60 years of achievement

The Virginia General Assembly approved a joint resolution commending the Virginia Outdoors Foundation (VOF) on the occasion of its 60th anniversary. The resolution, introduced by Senator Creigh Deeds and supported by a broad, bipartisan group of legislators, recognizes VOF’s six decades of service preserving Virginia’s open spaces, natural resources, and cultural heritage.

Since its establishment in 1966, VOF has helped protect nearly one million acres of farmland, forestland, scenic landscapes, historic resources, waterways, and public recreation lands across the Commonwealth. The resolution highlights VOF’s long-standing collaboration with federal, state, local, and private partners; its leadership in voluntary land conservation; and its significant contributions to agriculture, forestry, tourism, and quality of life for Virginians.

The commendation was patroned by Senators Creigh Deeds, Elizabeth Bennett-Parker, Jennifer Boysko, Mamie Locke Diggs, Schuyler VanValkenburg Perry, Saddam Salim, and Ghazala F. Srinivasan. House patrons included Delegates David Bulova, Adele Callsen, Joshua G. Cole, Nicholas T. Cole, Buddy Fowler, Patrick Hope, Katrina Callsen Laufer, Elizabeth Guzmán Maldonado, Alfonso Lopez Martinez, Delores McQuinn, Sam Rasoul, Kim Schmidt, Lee Ware, and Rodney Willett.

VOF is honored by this recognition and remains committed to safeguarding the Commonwealth’s natural, scenic, historical, and recreational resources for generations to come.
